Dec. 1st- Dec. 21st

The top water fishing has greatly improved. The passing cold fronts have pushed good bodies of Kingfish and Dolphin (on the drop off), along with quite a few Sailfish. Bottom fishing has remained steady, as long as no cold water or south tide pushes in.
Trips of note:
Kel Moseley and friends caught 7 Kingfish, 16 Dolphin, and some nice Muttons.

Johns Owens group caught 20 Dolphin, 9 Kingfish, a Wahoo, and released a nice Sailfsih.

A 27lb. Permit was caught on another trip.

Open boat trip caught 2 Sailfish, a limit of Kingfish, some big Bonitio’s, Jacks, and some Yellowtails and Muttons (largest Mutton 9lbs.).

On the latest trip (Dec. 22nd), William Murphy group caught 14 Kingfish (up to 30lbs.), 3 Dolphin, 1 Cobia, and 1/2 Dozen Muttons.

Catches have been strong, as long as the weather holds. We still have some trips available Christmas thru New Years. Gift certificates are available. Happy Holidays to all!!!!!!!!

Dec. 26-Jan 1st.
The holiday week saw excellent fishing. The boat sailed every day except one, because of
bad weather. Dolphin, Kingfish, along with a few Sailfish and Cobia, provided great top water action. There was a little slow down on the bottom, but we still caught some nice Mutton Snappers and many Red Groupers.

Some trips of note:

Stan Marshall’s group caught 33 Dolphin, 5 Kingfish, and 6 Mutton Snappers.

Dr. Cohen’s trip caught 3 gaffer Dolphin 10-20 lbs., a limit of Kingfish, one est. 90 inch sailfish released. There were also a few Mutton Snappers caught.

Joan Slagus group caught 8 gaffer Dolphin, 7 Kingfish, and 1/2 dozen Muttons.

Sammy Joseph group caught a 25lb. Cobia, 22lb. Blackfin Tuna, a limit of Kingfish, 9 Mutton Snappers (up to 8lbs.) and Est. 90+inch Sailfish, released.

Jan. 2-14th

Then the cold came….. Then it seemed like it never left. Wind 20-30mph and Temps. way below normal. Caused many cancellations.

Jan16-18th

Still rough, but warm. Scott Brown Charter caught 26lb. Cobia, a few Muttons (with largest at 11lbs.), a limit of Kingfish, and released a nice Gag Grouper ( Grouper Ban until April 1st.).

Brent Sanky group caught a limit of Kingfish and a 1/2 dozen Mutton Snappers.

Jan. 19-Feb. 18

The fishing has remained good thru the middle of February, as long as the weather allowed us to sail. The weather has been tough with cold front after cold front passing. The winter Kingfish arrived, along with plenty of Sailfish. We had 7 Sailfish the last week of January (we do not typically target them unless requested). The bottom fishing was good with many  groupers caught, including some keeper size Blacks, Gags and Reds, but all released due to the grouper ban until April 1st. Snapper fishing was only ok due to the cold water. It will get better as the water warms.

Top water ocean life has been an eye pleaser. Plenty of sea turtles, Dolphins (porpoise), sharks, and Manta Rays to view (for you sea life lovers). Last week we even had a 20 min. show from a Right Whale. Plenty of photos were taken. Not seen very often in these parts.

Trips of note:

Open boat trip-Bill Goem and friends caught their limit of Kingfish, keeper size Black and Red Groupers (released/ban).

Capt. Larry trip caught 2 Sailfish, some bottom fish and a keeper African Pompano.

Private charter: Paul Stern battled sharks, Amberjacks and Goliath Groupers.

Jack Schneider trip caught their limit of Kingfish and a nice Dolphin.

Sean charter caught a mix of snappers (Yellowtails, Muttons and some Lanes), 2 Cobias, a few Kingfish and a keeper size Red Grouper (released/ban).

Bill Smith Family battled Goliath Groupers and sharks (all released). “Beer can” was also seeing things.(inside joke).

Kel Moseley open boat trip caught their limit of Kingfish and a nice catch of bottom fish.

Brandon Marshall open boat trip caught their limit of Kingfish and a dozen snappers.
